I have been branching out and trying a lot of new things lately, and I thought it would be fun to share them with you guys! (You will also see some of the products I use repeatedly, but that’s just a testament to how much I love them, right?)
The skincare products I have been reaching for consistently lately have been Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap in ‘Hemp Almond,’ Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel, and Cure Natural Aqua Gel.
I really like the Dr. Bronner’s castile soap because it’s all natural, organic, cruelty free, fair trade, and multipurpose. I use it to wash my face, my body, and to deep clean my makeup brushes.
This specific witch hazel is awesome because it smells like roses (which is a much lovelier alternative to the way witch hazel smells on its own) and it’s alcohol free!
And last, but certainly not least, this Cure Aqua Gel is the best selling exfoliator in Japan, and for good reason! It’s a clear gel that you leave on your face for a few minutes, and then when you go to massage it in, you can see little white beads of dead skin coming off of your face, which is kind of gross but also really cool. I like to use it twice a week (I break out really easily, and this helps prevent acne caused by clogged pores), and it makes your skin feel really nice and soft. I got mine on Amazon!
The makeup products I’ve been loving lately have been: Benefit Porefessional Primer, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, The Balm Betty-Lou manizer, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, Maybelline Precise Liquid Eyeliner, Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee, Loreal Nude Balm in Nourishing Nude, Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm, and my faaaavorite of the whole bunch; Makeup Geek’s eyeshadows (along with a couple from Stila and MAC) in my Z Palette.
Makeup Geek makes AMAZING eyeshadows. They’re super pigmented and last amazingly well with or without a primer. I like them more than my MAC shadows, and they’re half the price!
My Instax Mini 8 is just so much fun. I have loved taking it with me on date nights with Victor (especially when we went ice skating at Discovery Green), or just to record moments at home I have with him. I’m so glad I bought it!
I’m not a perfume girl. I never really have been. I really don’t like overly sweet scented perfumes, but what I have been into lately is citrusy, fresh scents. This Grapefruit Verbena candle from Target makes our house smell like Spring, and I wore this Peche perfume from Anthropologie on my wedding day, so I know that one day I will spray it and be flooded with the memories of our woodsy, magical wedding day. I highly recommend both of these products!
What are some of your favorite things? Leave me a comment and share the love!
Jam of the moment: Duet by Penny & Sparrow (feat. Stephanie Briggs). I love this song. I personally feel like there is so much power in these lyrics. Definitely check it out if you’ve never heard it!
Their music is influenced by The Swell Season, Bon Iver, and Mumford and Sons, among others, so if you like any of those bands, you might just fall in love with Penny & Sparrow’s music like Victor and I did (thanks to Daniel Wilson!).
